Finding Financial Freedom Retreat
|
Financial Freedom is the freedom to make life choices without being blocked by money
worries. Financial Freedom allows us to live our purpose and follow our passions
without the fear of not having enough.
Most people's lives are primarily determined by the need for money. Our thoughts
and conversations are often centered on how much is needed, how much should be saved,
and what could be done to earn more. From this perspective, our lives are serving
the demands of money.
This workshop is designed to turn that process on its head and teach the ground
rules for having money serve the demands of our life, our values and our purpose.
We start by defining Financial Health from where you are presently and by distinguishing
your personal values and aspirations. The next step is to take a deeper look into
what values and judgements you may have around money, how you got them, and the
need for re-evaluating almost all assumptions you have about money.
You will also begin creating a clear view of the actual status of your personal
finances, using simple tools for understanding the dynamics of money. A "reality
check" process invites a detailed look at where our money comes from and where it
goes, as well as our possessions and investments. This information, of course, remains
confidential.
We move into a wide reaching process of Personal Values Clarification, which we
will touch on many times during the workshop. Clarified values are essential for
money to serve your demands and your desires.
Once the groundwork has begun on the Values Clarification, we move further to uncovering
and learning your Life Purpose. You begin this by asking, "What do I have to learn?
What do I have to give?"
A Life Purpose helps guide us in choosing answers to the core questions of "How
should I use my money?" and "How much money is enough?" Purpose is the "why" of
money management: planning, saving and spending. In these explorations, useful questions
and comprehensive outlines are provided to assist in the process. At the same time,
we will also deepen your understanding of the tools of financial management:
- Income and Expense Statements
- Financial and Non-Financial Balance Sheets
- "Portfolio" Income
- Money Magnets
- Debt Management

With much of this in place, we turn to assisting you in creating the Vision. Vision
is a snapshot of the future and is the "what" or the target we are aiming for with
our financial choices of today. Each person's vision is distinct and unique to them.
We delve into how your gifts and challenges are tied into achieving financial health.
We will cover investment strategies and examine appropriate levels of risk in investing.
From this you can create a Risk Profile based on your comfort level and financial
aims.
This is a key step to creating a plan that will match your goals and personality.
We will cover how to interpret your balance sheets, and your income and expense
statements, by understanding liquidity, debt, and controllable vs. non-controllable
expenses. Compound interest will be discussed with examples to illustrate use of
this powerful tool for investing, particularly when combined with tax deferral strategies.
Everyone will look into how their current financial situation reflects or does not
reflect their values, purpose and goals. In addition, we will address the benefits
of creating a personal Board of Advisors and choosing a financial advisor.
In the final session we put it all together with the process of creating a "Life
Map" that addresses our Life Goals and Money Goals. This is a powerful and useful
proprietary design that you can use to guide yourself after the workshop.
